Austin, TX (PRWEB) May 19, 2011

In what has been dubbed a Renter’s Nation, there are projected to be 10M additional renters enter the market within the next five years. One creative company recognized a need for more transparency in this burgeoning field and has launched an online escrow service that delivers just that. To appreciate the need for more transparency, you need to look no further than the stories of the founding partners.

After an exhaustive search on the Internet, Alan Lane found the perfect vacation rental property for his family in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He quickly got in touch with the property owner via email and finished the negotiations with a phone call a little while later. The owner was requiring the rental payment of $ 4,000, plus a $ 2,000 security deposit for the week rental a total of $ 6,000 wired directly into his bank account once the lease was signed. After the initial excitement of finding the perfect property dissipated, reality set in. The owner sounded legitimate and probably was, but sending $ 6,000 to someone located hundreds of miles away that Alan didn’t know personally just did not make sense. Alan enjoys the occasional Vegas trip, but he decided not to make this gamble resulting in his loss of the perfect vacation property and the owner’s loss of rental revenue.

Alan discussed this frustrating episode with his business partner Matt Neal. Coincidentally, the same night that Alan was wrestling with his vacation property dilemma, Matt was on the phone with a friend who lives in Aspen, Colorado. Matt is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Colorado, and his friend was seeking his advice. It had been over a month since Matt’s friend had moved out of a rental home where he and his family had lived for over a year. At the beginning of the lease, Matt’s friend paid the owner a $ 3,000 security deposit and a $ 500 pet deposit. Now that the lease was over, Matt’s friend and his family had moved out, leaving the home in perfect condition. The problem was the owner had spent the $ 3,500 and did not have the money to refund the deposit. Matt’s friend was stuck. He could take the owner who was also a family friend – to small claims court, but the owner simply didn’t have the money, because he had failed to deposit it in a secure, separate account as he should have. Poor accounting and money management cost Matt’s friend $ 3,500 and put his friendship with the owner at risk. The home eventually went into foreclosure and still, to this day, Matt’s friend has not received his deposit.

After swapping stories, Matt and Alan decided to see what services were available to help tenants and landlords safely ensure the integrity of their security deposits and rental payments. The two men turned to the Internet, only to find that their search results described no solutions, but rental and lease scams perpetrated on landlords and tenants alike.

Convinced of the need for a third party escrow service that protects rental deposit funds, Alan and Matt created DepositGuard. The company has spent the past two years developing their online escrow platform and is the only service of it’s kind currently available.

About DepositGuard: DepositGuard is based in Austin, Texas and is the new standard for helping tenants and landlords safely ensure the integrity of their security deposits and rental payments. Their unique online escrow service caters to long term leases as well as vacation rentals. For more information, go to http://www.depositguard.com.

Detroit, MI (Vocus) June 2, 2010

Contrary to popular belief, guys and cruise travel can – and do – go together. With a surge in the male demographic, cruise lines now offer men of all ages plenty to do – with or without accompaniment by the women in their lives.

“Cruise lines today are pursuing male cruisers as never before, creating new on-board experiences that cater to men.” says Bob Levinstein, CEO of Cruise Compete, LLC. “At sea or in port, there’s plenty to keep the male cruiser contented all day long, whether in “active mode” or simply relaxing by the pool or on the beach.”

Industry reports indicate men now account for approximately 45 percent of all cruise guests, a trend that reveals a cruises ever-increasing appeal to men of all ages.

Fabulous Food “24/7″- Casual buffets and bistro-style cafes offer light menu items, and ethnic specialty restaurants offer the reservations-only dining experience. Virtually all ships feature 24-hour pizzeria services and room service, and in many eateries, casual attire is welcome.

Hit the Gym- Want to continue that workout at sea? The ships have terrific running tracks and state-of-the-art gyms/equipment. What better way to work off that cruise cuisine than doing a few laps around a track atop the ship’s upper deck, breathing in fresh sea air?

Tee It Up – Men who prefer to hit the links rather than the pool or beach can still enjoy the game at sea. In addition to amazingly real, on-board computerized golf simulators, many cruise lines have expanded their stops at some of the world’s most picturesque and challenging golf courses throughout the world.

Sun Time is Fun Time – The cruise lines have turned themselves into floating entertainment centers and include innovations like bowling alleys and Flowrider surfing pools. Virtually all of the major cruise ships feature winding water slides, challenging rock-climbing walls, giant trampolines and ice skating rinks (sans hockey sticks and pucks), among other amenities.

Private Islands – Many of the cruise lines utilize “private islands” which include amenities such as beach and water sports, snorkeling, boat and kayak rentals, and hiking and sightseeing opportunities.

Experience Unique Adventure – Cruise travel offers countless opportunities for men looking for adventure and a raise in adrenaline levels. Carnival Cruises take travelers to Belize on an unforgettable cave tubing and rain forest exploration tour, and Crystal Cruises puts travelers who enjoy speed behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Maserati for an independent exploration of Monaco.

Pick Your Vice: Beer, Wine, or Cigar Bars – International brewers showcase signature and specialty beers and sponsor special onboard beer-tasting parties for those of drinking age. For the more sophisticated palate, wine-tasting opportunities and cigar bars abound.

Roll the Dice – For the “gambling man”, virtually all ocean cruise ships feature floating casinos (with the exception of Disney Cruise Lines). Blackjack, roulette, poker, craps and slot machines are popular; veteran cruisers report that Royal Caribbean’s newest ships feature the largest gaming areas. (Note: the casinos only operate when the ship is at sea, or when local laws allow gaming in port.) If an on-board casino is not enough, many cruise ports also feature land-based casinos.

Relaxation (Spa) Heaven – Industry reports say approximately one-third of spa guests are now men, and is not uncommon to see them enjoying massages, facials and pedicures. Other popular services include aromatherapy, hydrotherapy and thalassotherapy (seawater-based treatments).

Greatest Shows on Earth Forget the lounge acts: the cruise lines are producing multi-million dollar, special effects- laden entertainment extravaganzas, such as Royal Caribbean’s “Invitation to Dance”, based on the popular Dancing with the Stars television show,

As [CruiseCompete CEO Bob Levinstein comments, “Cruise fares include accommodations, superb food all day and night, white-sand beaches, world-class golf, relaxing spas, gambling, adventure and quality entertainment and shows. Simply put, for an average of about $ 100/day, there is no better value out there.”

About CruiseCompete CruiseCompete.com was named by The Wall Street Journal as The Best in Travel and has been a repeat on Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine’s Best List for Cruises in its travel category. Event on 2012-04-21 00:00:00
DATE April 21, 2012
DIRECTIONS 15800 N. Oracle Rd. Catalina, AZ
Get a Google Map of the Area.
CITY / STATE Catalina, Arizona (AZ)
DESCRIPTION

The 4th Annual Spring has Sprung Poker Run and Bike Show will be held on April 21st, 2012.

Spring is in the air and it's time to open that garage and go have as much fun as possible while still wearing your clothes. If it has been a while since you've had such a time, then you haven't been to a Twisted Whiskers event the last couple of years. This April though, Dutch and his band of misfits are sounding the rally cry once again and inviting everyone on two wheels to join them for their 4th Annual Sunnyside Up Café "Spring Has Sprung" Motorcycle Poker Run & Bike Show.

The event starts with breakfast at the Sunnyside Up Café and ends with lunch at the Players Pub, and in between you will find yourself along the winding, scenic loop through Northeastern Pinal and Southwestern Gila counties. However, if you have been to a Twisted Whiskers event, you know that the ride is the part of the day that passes the time in between the laughs, high jinks, and mischief that tend to ensue. It's the moments off their bikes that keep riders flocking back to these runs.

If your curiosity isn't peaked enough yet, then maybe the promise of cash prizes, raffle drawings, and trophies for the bike show will entice you to come join in the shenanigans on April 21st, 2012 in Catalina, AZ. First bike out is at 8:00 am, costs are per couple, or for a single rider (Includes Breakfast and Lunch), and as usual, all proceeds go towards a great cause, this time supporting Special Olympics.

For more information go to www.twistedwhiskers.net. Let's face it, you're going to go for a ride that day, so you might as well make the best of it.

We hope to see you there!

San Jose, California (PRWEB) January 13, 2012

Follow us on LinkedIn As the internet evolves and mutates, a new breed of online trading takes shape, and the once solely advertising supported content sites/websites are being sustained by two additional revenue pillars – subscriptions and pay-per-view models. The internet is a constantly evolving sphere throwing up opportunities, and risks for the service providers, and the latest trend taking shape is the gradual tapering of the amount of free information slipping through to the surfer. Awaiting the wings of change is a new commercial business model in the making, built on the concept of paying for online information required. The online industry is mutating from a free, advertising based model into a pay and use model, and with broadband gaining widespread adoption, the economics of high-value broadband content works distinctly in favor of this new emerging industry. Vast amounts of online advertising, which were then free, are now charged. Willingness to purchase content online is steadily increasing and unlike the yesteryears, today, online paid content is a business phenomenon no longer bogged down by consumer reluctance to pay. Subsequently, a rising number of internet users are paying for online content, especially entertainment specific content such as music, sports, and games.

e-Commerce and e-retailing are expected to significantly impact growth opportunities in the online services market worldwide. A majority of online users all over the world are estimated to switch over to Internet shopping in the coming years. The Internet plays a critical role in sales processes. Online services for categories such as travel, property, financial services, and staff recruitment hold a promising future ahead. Companies all over the world need to realize that functional websites are the need of the hour and offer more customized services.

Although, not a mainstream content, pornography and gambling continues to generate a large percentage of the total online paid content revenues. And despite its lucrativeness, its mass-market appeal is fairly limited by societal stigmas associated with it, and major portals judicially resist the temptation of offering this, as it can lead to alienation of existing users. But, with the growing professionalization of online content, and with the development of exclusive content, other content categories such as business, investment, finance, and lifestyles are gaining in popularity, leaving pornography and gambling for the niche.

Online paid music services will continue to expand, making its pitch even as the music industry locks horns over the issue of online music piracy. Online music has now become an integral part of the modern web surfers life, and is a must have content for millions of broadband subscribers. Key reasons citied for the promising potential of online music is the ease of use of the service, easy, and convenient payment models, and its use on multiple platforms such as internet, CD-ROM, and iPOD. Above 60% of the households with access to Internet enjoy music either directly from the music sites or from downloaded digital music files stored on PCs. Amongst the regular Internet households online in a given month, around 43 million households are prospective audience for digital music. Adults in the age group of 25 to 35 represent 25% of the customer base for legal music services, as against the 19 percent representation of the teenagers in the age group of 13 to 17.

Playing Poker for Free

Most online poker sites have a feature allowing you to play for free using play money. In the United States, because of the misplaced morality of the religious right and their lackeys in Congress, poker sites advertise that you can play for free and learn the game and have fun in the process. Well, sorry to disappoint you but you can’t play free poker and have fun at the same time. It doesn’t make a bit of difference how many toothpicks, matchsticks, paper-clips or play dollars you win, in the end you have nothing to show for your efforts. Accumulating a bankroll of fake cash leaves you no richer or poorer than you were prior to playing. This simple truth changes the game so much that you cannot hone your skills playing for free. You cannot bluff because there is absolutely no risk. Raises mean nothing because there is no risk. Everyone can be a maniac and when you go broke all you have to do is reload and keep playing. Your unlimited access to play dollars removes rationality from the game, thereby draining all the fun from participation in the masquerade. The essence of poker is money pitted against skill and a bit of luck. Without money skill simply doesn’t matter. So don’t play for free. Learn to be comfortable playing for real cash. At the same time don’t play in games in which your unable to sustain a loss. Choose blind limits within the range that your bankroll can sustain.

Finding the Right Stakes for You

If you want to play Texas Hold’em you must first determine whether you will play in fixed-limit or no-limit games. Fixed-limit games are less volatile than no-limit but they require entirely different skills to play effectively. No-limit is far and away more popular but it carries greater risk in any given session. I play in both limit and no-limit games depending on my mood and desire for taking larger or smaller risks with my money on any given day.

I follow a simple guideline for determining the blind limits I will play in cash games. I buy-in for an amount equal to 5% of my entire bankroll or less. For tournament play I pay tournament fees no larger than 2% of my entire bankroll or less. I am generally comfortable buying-in to a limit game for 40 to 50 times the big blind and in no-limit games for 100 to 200 times the big blind. Let’s say, for example that I have a bankroll of $ 1000. Five percent of that bankroll is $ 50. That is my maximum buy-in for a cash game. This means that playing online in a no-limit game I can comfortably buy-in to a .25/.50 game. For a limit game my bankroll allows me to buy-in to a .50/1.00 game. As my bankroll grows my limits can increase and as my bankroll shrinks my limits decrease. Disciplined bankroll management is critical to playing winning poker.

Often, playing in smaller stakes games is much like playing for free. Because not much is at risk, players are often far less rational than when their risk is greater. Many opponents you meet in small stakes games, anything under a big blind of $ 5, are less skilled and far less averse to taking risks than players at higher stakes levels. In some micro-stakes games you are playing against opponents who play much like they would if they were playing for play money. It is less likely that your skills will make much of a difference. Playing in small stakes games also provides less earnings per hour than do higher stakes games. If you are a solid player winning 2 big blinds per hour in a micro-stakes game where the big blind is, say, ten cents, you can earn no more than twenty cents per hour. In a one dollar game you would, assuming the same winning rate, earn a mere two dollars per hour. Building a bankroll which allows you to play in more expensive games must be a priority for you when you are starting out.

In order to effectively build your bankroll it is important that you play at stakes that motivate you to play your best poker. You should do this at any level but when there is little pain involved in losing it is difficult to stay focused and motivated. If you play at games in which you never feel a risk then you are apt to do crazy things and lose money. When you play where the stakes are to high for your comfort level you are apt to play far too conservatively and give up profits you might otherwise earn. Playing at a level in which the pain of losing is enough to make you uncomfortable but not so much that it will keep you from taking calculated risks and playing with aggression is the right level for you. When coupled with solid bankroll management and stop-loss game plans you will be able to play your best rational game.

Roger Fischel began playing poker with his friends in high school. Seven Card Stud and Five Card Draw were the games of choice back then. Over the years, Roger turned to Texas Hold ‘em as his game of choice. He plays both limit and no-limit hold ‘em regularly. During a long career as a teacher, Roger learned the value of sharing what he knows with others as a way to give back to the community in which he shares, thus, Rags to the River Poker was born. Roger recommends online poker tracking software for improving one’s game. He also offers a listing of online poker sites which welcome US players.

(PRWEB) February 17, 2012

Over 250 of the worlds best divers will compete at the 18th FINA Visa Diving World Cup 2012 from 20-26 February, the last qualification opportunity for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Amongst the world-class line up are Chinese Olympic champions He Chong and Chen Ruolin. Chong is 2008 Olympic individual 3m Springboard gold medallist and three-time world champion while Ruolin is double Olympic champion, winning both the 10m Platform and Synchronised 10m Platform.

China is known as the dominant force in Diving but Matt Mitcham, who will represent Australia at the test event, could threaten their hopes for a gold rush at the World Cup. Mitcham became the only non-Chinese athlete to win a Diving gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games when he won the Individual 10m Platform.

The British team have named 13 athletes, including Synchronised 10m pair Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield and rising star Jack Laugher, who is current Junior World Champion in both the Individual 3m Springboard and Individual 1m Springboard. Tonia Couch, Britains most celebrated female diver who placed eighth in the Individual 10m Platform at the Beijing Games and has finished in the top 10 in the last two FINA World Championships, will also line up for GB.

The competition, which is part of the London Prepares series of test events and supported by Visa, UK Sport and British Swimming, will be the first sporting event to be held at the spectacular Aquatics Centre and the 31st test event to be staged by the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG).

The event will test key elements of the venue operation and logistics such as lighting, results, scoring, workforce and timing while providing an ideal opportunity for athletes and team officials to compete at the venue ahead of the 2012 Games and offer feedback on LOCOG’s plans.

London 2012 Director of Sport Debbie Jevans said: ‘With less than 200 days to go until the start of the Games our testing continues to be a priority. Welcoming spectators into the Aquatics Centre for the 18th FINA Visa Diving World Cup 2012 will give a fantastic opportunity to see the worlds best divers compete in an Olympic venue and will also provide us, the organisers, with a unique chance to test our operations.’

FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione said: ‘We are very happy to be here in London for this FINA Diving World Cup, which also constitutes a Test Event for the 2012 Olympic Games in this exciting city. FINA and LOCOG have worked very closely during the past years and months and it is now time to see if this hard work is fruitful. From everyones feedback on the Aquatic Centre, this facility is amazing and will certainly constitute an asset for the success of FINA’s disciplines at Games time. I am sure that this World Cup will also be a milestone and I look forward to witnessing the performances of our best athletes next summer during the Olympic celebration.’

UK Sport’s Director of Major Events and International Relations, Simon Morton, said: ‘The FINA Visa Diving World Cup in London will be the fifth diving event, and the 11th aquatics event, UK Sport has supported through our Lottery funded Major Events Programme since 2007.

‘Competing at the Olympic venue represents a fantastic opportunity for our athletes, while the experience will be invaluable to our coaches and support staff, to help ensure they are best prepared for the home Olympic and Paralympic Games in London in less than six months time.’

Colin Grannell, Head of Partnership Marketing at Visa Europe said: ‘As a sponsor of the Olympic Games for more than 25 years, we know that the 18th FINA Visa Diving World Cup 2012 will be a great opportunity for people to preview of one of the most popular competitions of the Olympic Games. This qualifying event will be crucial for Team 2012 and international athletes to reach their goal of competing this summer.’

David Sparkes, British Swimming Chief Executive, said: ‘We are really excited about the upcoming 18th FINA Visa Diving World Cup. This event, which will be the first major event in the London 2012 Aquatics Centre, will showcase most of the Worlds Diving stars.

‘What a great opportunity this will be for our GBR Diving Team to take on some of their competitors in the Olympic venue and give us all an insight to what the Olympics will all be about.’

Celebrity Poker – Celebrities And The Games They Play

Article by Cyman Harrison

Undoubtedly, celebrity interest in the game of poker has fuelled public interest in the game of poker. It is likely that the average citizen could not ignore the lure of a thing linked both to the creation of wealth and the world of the mysterious and unattainable celebrity.

Many people like to watch their favorite celebrities compete on the popular television show, Celebrity Poker Showdown. The many celebrities that have appeared on the famous person game show demonstrate the interest that not only average people have for celebrities and poker, but shows the fascination celebrities have with wagering their money for a better cause.

So, for you interest, here are some details about the public’s favorite celebrity poker players:

Ben Affleck: This Hollywood superstar added $ 356,000 to his bankroll in 2004, winning the No Limit California State Championship. His movie star fortune allows him to play the highest stakes at the poker table.

Chris Moneymaker: While most celebrities become famous and then play poker, Chris Moneymaker won the World Series of Poker in 2003 after qualifying in a $ 40 satellite tournament. It was his first major live tournament.

Jason Alexander: This poker player became famous as the character “George” on the television series Seinfeld. He competed against the show Celebrity Poker Showdown against fellow poker player Michael Ian Black.

Stephen Collins: This Emmy nominee is in his tenth year starring as Reverend Eric Camden on 7th Heaven and is also a poker buff.

Tom Everett Scott: This famous actor is playing more poker than you can shake at stick at you. He can be found at World Poker Tour events and at celebrity home games. He got famous in movies like An American Werewolf in Paris and Dead Man on Campus.

Mena Survari: She’s beautiful and show loves to play poker. She’s even appeared on Celebrity Poker Showdown. It’s a wonder she has time though with all her time spent on movies and modeling gigs.

Dennis Quaid: Turns out Dennis Quaid has it all. He’s famous, loves poker and is charitable, too. He’s recently been spotted working with the International Hospital for Children in New Orleans and he’s even teamed up with Hollywood Poker to donate money from Hurricane Relief Tournaments.

Eileen Davidson: This Young and the Restless superstar once played five characters at one time on rival soap Days of our Lives. When she’s not breaking hearts on daytime television, she can be found playing poker with fellow poker-playing celebrity hubby, Vince Van Patten.

The best part of people loving celebrity poker is that it takes so little to get involved in this glamorous world. We need only flip on the television, log on to the Internet or take a jaunt to the local casino to get in on the high stakes of Texas Hold’em. It’s an exciting time for poker.

Chicago natives Company of Thieves are a lively and passionate four piece band headed by frontwoman Genevieve Schatz. They are known for delivering exciting and captivating performances that live up to their studio albums. Schatz (vocals), Marc Walloch (guitar), Chris Faller (bass), and Eitan Bernstein (keys) formed Company of Thieves when they were just teenagers living in Chicago. They debuted their first album “Ordinary Riches” in 2007 independently and later re-released it in 2009 under Wind-Up Records. The album received much praise including a #5 spot on Billboard’s Heatskeers Chart. Company of Thieves steadily toured beginning in early 2009 including a tour with fellow Chicagoans OK GO in 2010. They also landed themselves a spot on the 2010 Lollapalooza lineup. Company of Thieves proved they have what it takes to stand up under pressure when they released their second album “Running From A Gamble” produced by Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Beck) in the spring of 2011. The single “Death of Communication” was released and the band hit the road again for another long tour. Although they have been all over the United States, Company of Thieves never forgets their roots in Chicago! Come out to the Metro in March to see them put on an outstanding show in their hometown!
